Abstract Submission

DATE REMINDER: CLOSED !

• HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR ABSTRACT

All abstract submissions to IBMM-2022 should be entered through the submission portal below. The abstract title, the authors and their affiliation should be entered in the corresponding fields.

Please provide a title that describes the nature of your presentation with no more than 15 words. In the title, do not use acronyms or abbreviations. We kindly ask the authors to select the conference topic, which are most closely linked to their contribution. The corresponding person must be one of the authors. For each accepted abstract, at least one author/presenter must be registered !

Please indicate your preferred type of presentation (oral/poster). However, it is up to the Program Committee to make the final selection of oral presentations. Late abstracts can only be accepted as poster !

The length of an abstract is limited to one A4-paper page. The absolute maximum length of the bulk text of the abstract is 2000 characters, including spaces, punctuation and references. Figures and tables cannot be included. References, when needed, should be indicated using square brackets [1], in order of appearance in the abstract. All references must be listed in numerical order at the bottom of the text.

When you paste the text into one of the abstract box, we do not preserve any character formatting you applied in your word processing file. The copy and paste do not preserve bold, italic, underline, superscript (m²) and subscript (CO²) (see below superscript and subscript). All formatting should be ignored.

• FORMATTING TEXT CONSIDERATIONS

1. Greek or Math Symbols

When you paste the text into the abstract input boxes, we try and preserve any Greek characters (as Γ, Δ, Θ, etc.) or Math symbols (±, ∀; ∑, etc.). If your computer has a newer operating system (Vista, Windows 7, 8 or 10, or any version of MacOS10) then you should be using Unicode typefaces, and all Greek, math and other symbols should copy and paste into your abstract without difficulty (the site uses the UTF-8 code). However, if you have an older computer, or are using a non-unicode typeface, Greek or Math symbols in your abstract may substitute with some other character when you paste the text into the input box.

Check to ensure that all Greek, Math and other uncommon symbols have been captured correctly. If you have an old computer, or are using a non-unicode typeface, and had a β (Beta) in your abstract, it will have been replaced with a “b” when you pasted the text in the input window. This happens because your browser can only work in a single typeface at a time, and if it is the old 255-character style typeface, the browser will convert the beta into the default character mapped to the "b key" in your system – which will be b. To insert the β, place your curser where you wish to insert a beta, and then click on the Ω button (insert symbol on Word). A pop-up window will appear with the complete Greek alphabet, common math operands, diacritic characters and other commonly used symbols. To input a beta, double click on the β, and a β character should appear where you had placed your curser.

As alternative enter the Unicode value in hexadecimal (EG: to insert β, enter 03B2 for U+03B2), then press ALT+X. This shortcut does not actually use the numeric keypad. The complete list of Unicode can be found in: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Unicode_characters .

2. Superscript and subscript

As mentioned above, the copy and paste do not preserve any character formatting you applied in your word processing file. So superscript (m²) and subscript (CO²) should be inserted as symbols using the same procedure described for inserting Greek or Math Symbols.

Users with Asian or Arabic operating systems should pay close attention to Greek and math symbols, as your typefaces may not be Unicode. Use a Unicode typeface if possible. If any issue arises during the abstract submission process, please contact us through the conference email (ibmm2022@ctn.tecnico.ulisboa.pt).

An abstract book is provided to participants on-site.
